I appreciate this has been a hard decision for you to make. I'd personally like to thank you for everything you've done for the project and the people around it.
You once said Drupal was three things, a content management system, a content modelling framework and a kick-ass community. The community aspect is one of the strongest assets of Drupal, and I think a large part of that is down to you.
I remember you being in my session about contributing to core at DrupalSouth Melbourne and being chuffed that you'd come to listen to what I had to say.
I also remember that you were the person who committed my first patch to core, and I'm sure that's the case for many others.
You have always been an inspiration for 'community done right' I think that if you ever did find more time you would be welcome back with open arms (hey we're all approaching retirement right, that'd be a great way to spend it!)

Thanks for all your inspirational leadership @webchick. You made a massive contribution to setting the inclusive and supportive culture of this community. You will be missed โค๏ธ

OK, look: I would not be here if it wasn't for you, Angie. That's the rock-solid truth. You've heard it before, and I'm saying it again. I'll never stop saying it.
I also think I should have RTBCed this. It would have been on-brand for me. ๐
Love, appreciation, and monumental respect. Always.

You have always been an amazing mentor and friend to me and countless others. You will be deeply missed. May we all bring as much care, attention, generosity and love to our work in the world as you do! ๐ if you do have more time in the future, I canโt imagine anyone could object. Wishing you the best in all your further adventures. Hope our paths cross again many times!

Thank you for all your years of dedicated work: for the code, the community, the relationships, everything!
As with many others in this thread... you're literally the reason I dove headfirst into the Drupal community many years ago. Thank you, and I hope you continue to spread the fervor and optimistic open source love wherever you go!
- ๐จ๐ฆCanada joel_osc
Sad to see you go, I have been an admirer of your contributions and work in the Drupal community for many years. Best of luck and I am sure if things change for you the community will always welcome you back with open arms.
- ๐บ๐ธUnited States greggmarshall Aurora/Denver, Colorado
I can't count the many times I have depended on your guidance over the past years, either directly or reading some blog post from years before that removed a huge block (like how to make a table visible to Views in D6).
I'd much rather see a "maintainers emeritus" category added instead of losing the inclusion of a person who has done so much for Drupal.

Thank you Angie for all your wonderful contributions to this community, and to me personally. Without you and a few select others, I'm not sure my path would have gone down the Drupal rabbit hole. Your presence has changed countless lives, both professionally and personally.
I was going to list all the great memories here, but realized that list got fairly long. So I'll leave you with this: a photo of you asking a question regarding the Drupal roadmap at Drupalcon Vancouver 2006. It was there I met you, Ken, Adrian, and a few others that started this whole journey of mine. It was here that you demonstrated that community is what set this CMS apart from the others, making it a central part of the development process around Drupal.
Best of luck on your next journey into the data space and beyond, where you're bound to be a force for good. :) <3

I just found out about this issue.
@webchick Thank you for all of contributions to Drupal and to the Drupal community. I can honestly say that you have changed the course of my life for the better. Thanks to a brief conversation we had in 2012, I felt seen and accepted by a large community at a time where I was trying to prove to myself that I could do this professional software development thing. You gave me confidence, helped me learn to communicate betterm and to feel comfortable taking on new adventures in open source development. The adventures since then have been numerous and the knowledge gained from those adventures have been immense. I could have not persevered down that road without feeling like I was on the right path.
As the years tick on, I think about these adventures differently. Maybe the adventures are the whole point. I mean the willingness to adventure, to discover and to story-tell about what is found. The confidence to head out there and be capable enough to make progress without letting the doubt convince you not to try.
I thank you for helping me discover that. I hope that I can make that kind of difference for someone else someday.
- ๐ญ๐บHungary Gรกbor Hojtsy Hungary

Hi Webchick! We met briefly once in Vancouver when I working for Affinity Bridge. I've always admired you from afar, both in terms of your commitment to Drupal and your balanced, kind approach to working with others (witnessed mostly through issue queues on D.O.)
Thanks for being so awesome, and absolutely, do not overcommit yourself to anything.
Much respect,

You've left a strong positive mark on the Drupal project. Folks will be celebrating your excellence for years to come. Your inspiration and the welcome you provided will send waves of impact through the project forever. Thank you.

Thanks for everything Angie, you will be missed! Just gave you a shoutout during my contribution talk at DrupalSouth (with larowlan), throwing back to my first core patch in 2013. Your encouraging comments meant a lot to me then, and definitely helped make me feel like I belonged and was welcome.
Sorry to see you go and hope to see you back sometime :)

This is so sad, but also brings many, many bright memories. I can't be thankful enough for all that you did for Drupal and for me personally: showing me the way to contribution space (both metaphorically AND literally - on my first DrupalCon) , helping to resolve (rare!) personal conflicts, your advises, your energy, your... webchickness!
You may leave MAINTAINERS.txt, but nothing could remove you from our ๐๐๐

Awww - Hell.
Angie "webchick" Byron, you are a class act.
Even whilst stepping down, and stepping back, you are graceful, gracious, and intentional.
The outpouring of recognition, and love is testimony to the impact you've had on us, those who've had the incredible good fortune to know you, work with you, laugh with you, cry with you. Drupal is what it is because of all of us, and we are that, because of you.
What can't be seen here, is the impact on the many other millions who've benefitted from what you did here.
Power to you.

OMG, I am so sad to hear this, but I'll refrain from marking it "needs work". ๐ข I hope you know how much I love you Angie - you are an inspiration, not just for your Drupal-specific work but also for your work with the community as a whole as well (I was at the Drupal Queer BOF in SFO and the first D&I BOF as well). โค๏ธ๐ญ

@webchick Thank you so much. Iโll never forget how the โwebchickโ tour Lullabot workshop for Drupal 7 happened at exactly the time when I was trying to get back on my feet and back into Drupal development after a major life setback. Thatโs when I first met you in person. You were such an inspiration to me and I proudly wore my webchick tour t-shirt until it was full of holes and falling apart at the seams.
Your mentorship, guidance, and encouragement during the development of Help Topics as an experimental module was so vital and helpful to me as I was struggling to learn how to become a maintainer myself.
But more than that, you are just such a terrific human being. I miss your presence in the community and I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.

You and Nate were the reason I got hooked on the community wayyyyy back in 2008 when you ran a training session for us newbies at Bonnier. Angie, thank you for all you've done over the years for Drupal and the Drupal community.
Not sure if we've ever met, but I was also at the Drupal Queer get-together in San Francisco; I've devoured your Drupal book, which helped get me up to speed; and you've commented on at least one of my issues.
Anyway, best wishes on your new path.
