For reference, here's the banner we had in Lille:
I have no idea if the same design was in Pittsburgh last year.
- ๐ง๐ชBelgium BramDriesen Belgium ๐ง๐ช
Probably best to add the correct template so we design print-ready from the start, from the looks this is a 85x200cm banner so uploading a generic template that *should* be ok for any printing service. If needed it's easy to adapt as the changes should be minor if we start from here.
Link for the IDML file as I can't upload it here.

Thanks, Bram,
I agree we want to get the dimensions correct before we go too far.
It being the US, there may be slightly different measurements in inches.
Also, do we want to stick with the standard roll up banner format, or do we want a wider format that may make for a more impressive booth? - ๐ฌ๐งUnited Kingdom rachel_norfolk UK
Consider also the size of the โMentor boxโ in which they should ideally be packed.
Itโs good to keep everything together.

Correct, but that will be minor ๐ those banners are quite standard.
Consider also the size of the โMentor boxโ in which they should ideally be packed.
I think Chris has the exact dimensions of this as he had to ship it from Lille to the next location. At least I was with him when he was measuring the box.

Ah yes, had some fun trying to repack the mentor box to fit someone's giant LEGO map of the world set in at Lille!
I'm not clear... does the mentor box transit the globe, or are there separate north American and European boxes?

There should be separate boxes. The European box we put together for the Drupal e.V. โ (German Drupal Association) so it could move around to the various contribution events. The N.A. box is a bit larger.
The roll-up traveled separately from N.A. box.

I have been working on ideas for the new banner. I have two versions to consider:
1.
2.

I'm sure the text will need reworking, so here's my first cut:

Looks good! Here's my feedback:
1. I personally think the 'title' (Drupal Mentoring) being horizontal is easier to process (e.g. comment #10, "1.").
2. The Drupal logo is large (& looks great), but that takes away from the available space for the text. The original banner (comment #3) is easier to read, partly because it's not competing for space.
3. When I make banners without a QR code I usually regret it. IME people are more likely to visit links using if there is a QR code, so the lack of a QR code may reduce leads. If you decide to add a QR code, I recommend pointing it to a redirect so that you can track and/or change it in the future (e.g. https://drupal.org/core-mentoring-banner-qr , with it redirecting to https://drupal.org/core-mentoring)
4. The new designs look much more interesting and exciting than the original.

Generally I like the design. Personally, the heavy use of green throws me off a little bit. Partly due to the association of Drupal with blue. It is also just a lot of green :)
- ๐บ๐ธUnited States kwiseman
@mradcliffe wanted me to mention that when I first saw this design, I thought it was a bookmark, but I do think it works well as a banner too.
Also, I sampled the contrast ratios of the text and dropshadow colors on the "ring" in "Mentoring" (on the left) with my mac's digital color meter, and here are my results:
Contrast of white text on green: 3.9:1 (green was #419232)
Contrast of grey dropshadow on green: 1.86:1 (#b3b3b3 vs #419232) - ๐บ๐ธUnited States mike.roman Chicago

#14 looks good! I like how clearly the information is organized (the two boxes of text) which makes it easy to scan and find out exactly what Drupal Mentoring is and who it's for. I do have a couple of notes:
I googled "skill-set" and evidently it should be "skill set" instead (space instead of a hyphen).
I'm wondering if the Slack icon is enough info for those who see the banner? Would they know that it is the *Slack* icon, or should the full Slack logo (icon + "Slack" in their official brand font) be used instead? Also, would they know that "#mentoring-team" is the *Drupal* Slack (drupal.slack.com if I'm not mistaken)? -- the answer to these could very well be "yes", but I thought I would raise the question just in case.

Thanks for all the feedback!
@ashrafabed: 1. I do take your point on the horizontal title being easier to read/process. Happy to go that way if others prefer it, but I feel it's trying to balance readability and impact. Mentor/mentoring appears many times on the banner, so hopefully people will pick it up.
2. Yes the logo take up space, but I think a lot of the space at the top of the banner is above people's eyeline, so we don't want too much up there.
3. QR code is a great idea. I've added one to the URL suggested. If we adopt that, we'll need to get a redirect or a landing page set up.
4. Thank you.@brianperry: I agree the green is dominant. I think the green DrupalIcon logo is a long established mentoring tradition, so I was basing it on that.
For the next version, I have produced three colour schemes, one in traditional Drupal blue, one in a turquoise that sits somewhere between Drupal blue and Mentoring green, and the third in full on mentoring green. I've kept the green Drupalicon. I feel that the blue one is doesn't go well with the Drupalicon. The turquoise one works better, though I still like the green one.@kwiseman: I like the idea of getting them produced as bookmarks as well. It would be nice to have something to give people visiting the booth.
@mike.roman: Agree skill set sounds better than skill-set.
Good point on the slack logo. I think specifying that it's "Drupal Slack" makes sense. The old banner had a Twitter logo. I changed, partly because I didn't want to get into a debate on the old vs new Twitter logo, and partly because I don't think we're using it very much, and Slack is where the main action happens.I've done some refining of the text. I'm not sure it's all an improvement, and I'd welcome suggestions.

These are great ๐ Iโm partial to the first two. Only other feedback is I donโt like how the QR code covers part of the icon but itโs not a big deal and I donโt know where to move it
- ๐ญ๐บHungary Gรกbor Hojtsy Hungary
Agree with the QR, can it be smaller? The banner itself will be quite big and people walking up could get the QR?
- ๐ฎ๐ชIreland lostcarpark
I agree the QR code overlapping the Drupalicon was a bad idea.
I've moved the text boxes down a little, moved the QR down a bit, and made the QR and Drupalicon both a bit smaller, so it's no longer overlapping.
I've done it on the green version because that's what's currently set up, but I can produce for a different background colour if that's the consensus.
I must admit I'm warming to the turquoise version.

Nice ๐ I like the turquoise best and blue after that

QR code size looks good roughly 18cm squared so probably people can take a picture of it safely up to 180cm away (10:1).
+1.
- ๐ฎ๐ชIreland lostcarpark
I have generated two PDFs.
The first is the banner as it appears in the image above.
The second has extra bleed around the edges, so that's probably the one we want to print from. It has white crop marks at the corners indicating the where it should be cropped.
