    @joseph.olstad

    I am currently a co-maintainer on RoleAssign, but I do not have push / merge permissions, which limits how much I can help move things forward, I have also messaged the main maintainer to see if I can even get upgraded permissions to move things along.

  • 🇨🇦Canada joseph.olstad

    @nord102,
    as a maintainer you'll need your keys configured and you'll need to clone the repository using the maintainer option.

    It should look something like this:

    git clone git@git.drupal.org:project/roleassign.git
    cd roleassign

  • 🇨🇦Canada nord102

    @joseph.olstad

    I've already cloned the repository, but it looks being added as a co-maintainer on drupal.org does not add you to the Project members list for the Git Repo (https://git.drupalcode.org/project/roleassign/-/project_members), hence my inability to push / merge MRs

    I will follow the steps from https://www.drupal.org/docs/develop/managing-a-drupalorg-theme-module-or... → to see if I can take over as a full maintainer

  • 🇧🇪Belgium svendecabooter Gent

    FYI:
    I also have limited co-maintainer permissions on this module.
    Had reached out to maintainer salvis in the context of https://www.drupal.org/project/roleassign/issues/3297982 📌 Automated Drupal 10 compatibility fixes Fixed on Febr. 23 via their contact tab. Not sure if that qualifies to skip the 14 day waiting period, since it was not in an official "offering to co-maintain" issue.

    Hopefully someone can take over and move forward this module.

    @svendecabooter You and nord102 have only the Maintain issues permission.
    The only way to skip the 14-day wait is the project owner who is not active on drupal.org, which for me means the user has not even logged in for a long time.

    I can contact the project maintainer now. In that case, the 14-day wait would start from the moment I contact the project owner.

    This is the message I sent.

    Hello Hans,

    I am contacting you because joseph.olstad ( https://www.drupal.org/u/josepholstad → ) offered to maintain RoleAssign ( https://www.drupal.org/project/roleassign → ), a project for which you are project owner and maintainer.

    Ma you post a comment on https://www.drupal.org/project/roleassign/issues/3346751 💬 Offering to maintain RoleAssign Fixed about accepting or declining the offer? Without a publicly visible comment posted in that issue in the next 14 days, joseph.olstad will be probably made maintainer (user with all the permissions on the project).
    None of the current co-maintainers/maintainers will be removed from site moderators, nor will the project owner be changed. A maintainer cannot change the project owner.

    I am contacting all the users with the explicit permission to administer co-maintainers/maintainers for that project, who in this case is just you.

    Best regards,
    Alberto Paderno

    Just want to note that I also reached out via the contact form and slack to see if I could get ahold of the current maintainer and see if I can be promoted from co-maintainer to maintainer, that was my goal in my original ticket 📌 Offering to maintain RoleAssign Fixed , I will also update that ticket as well.

  • 🇨🇭Switzerland salvis

    Thank you apaderno and all for reaching out and offering to maintain RoleAssign.

    16 months ago my 32 year old daughter ( vsalvis → , BTW) died of breast cancer after a two-and-a-half year suffering. During those years I've lost touch with the Drupal community and project, and even though I still run a few small D7 sites, I didn't manage to make the transition to D8.

    None of you have left a lot of traces in the issues queue, but I've promoted to maintainers

    • joseph.olstad based on apaderno's endorsement and
    • svendecabooter based on his work for porting RoleAssign to D8.

    Both of you have vast experience in maintaining projects including security-critical ones. Please let me know through the contact form if you want me to promote nord102 as well.

    RoleAssign is an essential module for getting help with administering a site without putting too much of a burden and responsibility on your deputies. Thank you for taking care of it!

  • @salvis, I am sorry to hear your sad news. Thank you for all of the hard work you've done, the amazing tools you've contributed to the Drupal community, and for giving us an update on your current status.

    @salvis I'm so so so sorry. Such an unbearable loss. I hope you have (and have had) the support you need and deserve during this incredibly difficult time.

  • 🇨🇦Canada joseph.olstad

    @salvis yes sorry for the loss of your daughter, last year I lost my only sister-in-law and also lost my beautiful niece in a bad automobile crash, thankfully my brother survived. It's been a very busy 15 months now since the accident.

  • 🇺🇸United States Kristen Pol Santa Cruz, CA, USA

    Oh dear. I’m so sorry Joseph. I hope you and your brother have a lot of support. It’s so hard. I’m going to hug my kids extra tight tonight.
