Overview

To promote experience builder, it would be nice to have a logo / icon available

I found something abstract in figma:
https://www.figma.com/design/Ps3m4APGHIILsBrm0Uj31N/Experience-Builder?n...

The logo could then also be used by project browser. See this issue for reference
https://www.drupal.org/project/sitemap/issues/3459435 📌 Project Browser: Create a logo for Sitemap Active

Proposed resolution

Create a logo that is 512x512 square dimension in PNG format without animations.
The file size should be 10k or less.
Use a lossy image tool (such as pngquant) to reduce the file size while keeping the image quality at around 80%.

Thanks! That icon seems okay but maybe someone can make something a bit more interesting?

In the meantime, someone can pull out that icon, size it, and attach here or create MR.

I have attached three versions of the PNG and an SVG.

Wow, very cool! 🤩 Thank you!

Deferring to XB's product manager on whether to land this as-is or not 😄

Hey 👋 I just wanted to let you know that the design department of 1xINTERNET is currently working on a logo for this, I will provide it here once it is available.

  • 🇩🇪Germany yannickoo Berlin

I am really happy to share the work of my colleague Ángela 🎉

The logo is showing a puzzle piece which stands for components that can be placed into the Experience Builder. The pencil inside of it indicates editing functionality which is a great combination! It is following the new CI of Drupal and looks very clean so it can be used for promotion of Experience Builder.

SVG and 512×512 PNG files have been attached ✅

What do you think about it?

  • 🇺🇸United States Kristen Pol Santa Cruz, CA, USA

Thanks 🙏 It’s very clean but I’m not sure it’s clear what it represents. I’ll wait for others to chime in

  • 🇩🇪Germany yannickoo Berlin

I have just asked ChatGPT and it's saying the following:

    🔍 Interpretation of the Logo

    Puzzle Piece Shape 🧩
This suggests modularity, plug-and-play architecture, and customizability — all key traits of Experience Builder and Drupal functionality.

    Pencil Icon ✏️
Indicates editing, customization, or content creation — a natural fit for a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) or low-code editor.

    Color Scheme 🔵
The blue and white color is reminiscent of Drupal’s own branding, which strengthens the association.

I’m not opposed to the logo… it just doesn’t feel like “Experience Builder” to me… but not sure what would. I’m NOT a designer:)

  • 🇩🇪Germany breidert

I like it, but I might be biased :-)

Here’s another idea. How about a drop with an interlocking plastic brick in it? I asked AI for an example, and this is the closest it got to what I had in mind. I would use just flat blue and white to draw the logo.

  • 🇺🇸United States darren oh Lakeland, Florida

Here's the flat blue drop with the white block.

  • 🇺🇸United States darren oh Lakeland, Florida

    With XB in the logo.

  • 🇺🇸United States darren oh Lakeland, Florida

Moved X and B to the sides of the block.

  • 🇺🇸United States Kristen Pol Santa Cruz, CA, USA

I like the last one and it conveys building because of the block though not sure who outside of those working with XB will understand “XB” stands for Experience Builder:)

  • -1 for #15 :) -- I can say that I do hate it somehow, seems like a 1990 logo and it doesn't fit with the drupal mark :) Yay!

+1 for @yannickoo #7 (maybe it just need the drupal mark)

    +10 for three stacked layers (e.g: https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/siteorigin-panels/ )

  • 🇺🇸United States Kristen Pol Santa Cruz, CA, USA

Something with layers could be nice

  • 🇺🇸United States darren oh Lakeland, Florida

    Stacked layers.

  • 🇺🇸United States Kristen Pol Santa Cruz, CA, USA

Nice :) I like that one. At this point, we should let Lauri decide, as there are a few options to choose from.

Maybe if I RTBC, then he'll see it easier ;)

Making it more clear what it's for

    Here are some more examples:

I forgot to post my feedback for the stacked layers: I think that can confuse people since this is exactly the same icon we use in the Navigation for the Structure link.

In order to provide a quick overview about all the current candidates I have prepared this here to make it easier:

I think it is important to have a proper logo for the Experience Builder that is not just a 💧 but something on its own. When you check the Modules overview page on drupal.org you will see that many projects are just having a drop with something inside. The Experience Builder should have something unique because it will be visible in presentations where we cannot just two drops next to each other, that would look too similar.

Here are few logos of other projects that are using the drop approach which we should not necessarily follow:

Thanks, adding this to the issue summary.

  • 🇪🇸Spain Carlitus

I like candidate 4 because the Lego pieces and drag & drop evoke the idea of an interface that allows you to build something larger with smaller pieces, and you can do this easily by moving the pieces with the mouse.

But it's easier to identify the module name with the XB that candidate 6 has. And it's good that the logo is as identifiable as possible without prior knowledge.

¿Maybe the Candidate 4 with the XB?

  • 🇩🇪Germany yannickoo Berlin

Fresh out of the oven four new candidates for the logo 🔥

  • 🇺🇸United States Kristen Pol Santa Cruz, CA, USA

    Thanks!

I like 10 the most, given what was pointed out regarding the heavy use of the drop already as the outline. Perhaps it's less exciting than some of the others, but it's clean and, I think, clearer about what the functionality might be.

I like the *idea* of the puzzle pieces, but I find the lines distracting with the drop as it breaks it up visually in a way my brain doesn't like.

  • 🇺🇸United States darren oh Lakeland, Florida

It is customary for official Drupal initiatives to use some variation of the drop.

  • 🇩🇪Germany yannickoo Berlin

Thank you for the quick feedback! I will forward this this to the kitchen 🧑‍🍳

I think we should definitely go for a jigsaw puzzle-shaped shaped logo. It is instantly unique and instantly memorable—no one forgets it.

And most important: It opens the door to endlessly creative marketing.

Think puzzle piece stickers, collectible swag, maybe even a puzzle plush toy and real mini puzzles as giveaways. Each piece can represent a product, value, or community member—versatile and symbolic. It’s playful, interactive, and inherently shareable.

This logo invites engagement, not just recognition. So if we want Experience Builder to hit big, we should go for puzzle shape.
