Views Exposed Filter on Content: Term Select Multiple

Problem/Motivation

I can't believe this hasn't been reported before but I can't find it.

When I create a view on a content type with a taxonomy term reference field, I can add a filter based on that field, but it only allows me to select one value. If I have a list field I can select multiple. (see attached images)

Steps to reproduce

Import the attached config files in the zip folder or do the following.

  1. create a content type with a taxonomy term reference field
  2. create a view on that content type
    • add a filter on the view that points to the term reference field
    • IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO MAKE THIS MULTIPLE SELECT whether exposed or not

Proposed resolution

Allow multiple select for exposed term reference field filters and exposed filters

Remaining tasks

TBD

User interface changes

Adds new checkbox on filter configuration for allow multiple. Should default to unchecked so that existing views depending on the select one don't break.

API changes

TBD

Data model changes

TBD

Release notes snippet

Allows taxonomy term reference filters in views to select multiple items.

Tried to replicate the issue on the Drupal 10.0.5 version. The multiple select functionalities work as expected in the views. Attaching a screenshot for reference.

Seems it is an invalid issue.

I marked this as drupal 9. someone else changed it to 10. I don't know if this affects 10.

@kwfinken it reads like a feature request, and those will only go into Drupal 10, hence the change. If it's a bug, and it seems to be fixed in Drupal 10, then we will also not take further action (try to find the issue that fixed it and apply the patch if you need it for D9)

As shown in #4 it seems to work fine (I tried to reproduce too and seems all good for me too), but looking at the screenshots in the IS, you are using a different multiple select than the browser default, something like Select2 or something? Maybe that is making it unclear (dunno, just guessing here)?

Can you reproduce this on a clean install of Drupal? I tested this on a new Umami install and just added a filter to recipe category to the main content View

  • Just used it on Drupal 9.5.11 with a lot of module and custom module installed and works fine.
Try with a clean install, maybe you have a module or something which broke it.
