The description and behavior is completely the same as in #2836827: Drupal.tableDrag: column span calculated wrongly for custom column → , because `tabledrag.js` wasn't redesigned and mostly was migrated from 7.x.

This was a bugsmash daily target yesterday, discussed by larowlan and Lendude. It was agreed that this is valid and it is good to see that test coverage has been added.

There is concern that this is a duplicate. I did some searching and found a possible candidate, #2836827: Drupal.tableDrag: column span calculated wrongly for custom column → .
Issue was unassigned.

In #bugsmash, lendude confirmed that this is a duplicate. Since that is the later issue, I am closing it in favor of the earlier one and moving credit.
