I went through the doc and updated and added comments and talked separately with Marcus and Val and we are on the same page… there is only one open item I think in the comments

I've closed out some of the comments, and have been chipping away at this one:

It's a bit of a bear, because there are so many issues to recategorize. I still need to do the submodule component.

I'm on vacation this week, but I'll try to chip away at it when my family is sleeping in.

I've discussed where the new docs should live with Marcus, and we've agreed they should be part of the existing docs in GitLab:
