Release a 2.x as pre-release or alpha version for D11

Problem/Motivation

Currently need to use the module as a dependency, but for maintenance reasons, I'm unable to target the dev branch.

Some kind of taggable release supporting D11 on composer would be ideal, we can always add patches to address any issues as we run into them.

The situation as it is currently blocks targetting Drupal 11 for some modules, see https://www.drupal.org/project/image_effects/releases/4.0.0 →

The Color backport module does not have a Drupal 11 compatible release yet. If you are using the Farbtastic plugin for color selection, the 2.x-dev branch was tested and seems to work fine. If no Drupal 11 compatible release comes earlier, the Farbtastic plugin will be removed in next minor of Image Effects.

Proposed resolution

Tag 2.0 as an alpha release or whatever the maintainers deem most appropriate.

Hi. I would also appreciate it if version 2.x was released. I'm stuck in the middle of a D11 upgrade because drupal/color version 1.0.3 is not Drupal 11 compatible.

I would also find a supported release useful, because this module's requirements are conflicting with the requirements for Image Effects v4.0. It is preventing me from updating and resolving issues I am having. Soon it will also cause us problems when we want to update to Drupal 11.
