The problem that you're encountering after setting the theme as your default theme is because its using some deprecated function on its .theme file. And there is a ticket created specifically for this issue, on which I've targeted it and raised an MR for the same. Please have a look

It has now been reviewed and tested by the community! Please refer to that for this problem.
And as far as the scope of this ticket, created by @shweta__sharma, the problem still persist and I'm working on it. But it would be better to have some sort of reference design according to which the styling should be made, else I'm simply incorporating some styling intuitively on my own. We can then modify it according to our needs!
