Offering to co-maintain Layout Builder Admin Theme

Created on 13 March 2023, over 1 year ago

Problem/Motivation

I'm happy to help co-maintain this project. Mainly to get it ready for the jump to Drupal 10, but I'm willing to stick around and help longterm as well.

This is linked to the great work that Kristen Pol is organizing over in #3342443: META: Adopt abandoned contributed projects for Drupal 10 readiness → .

The abandoned project process → says:

When the project is covered by Drupal's security advisory policy, you need to have permission to opt into security advisory coverage, or the offer must be approved by the project's owner. The site moderators will not add as owner, maintainer, or co-maintainer a user who cannot opt projects into security coverage. See Apply for permission to opt into security advisory coverage → : for details on how to obtain that permission.

For more information, see: How site moderators handle requests to be project owner, maintainer, or co-maintainer → .

This should be moved back to the Layout builder admin theme issue queue to be processed by the owner. However, the owner's contact form is disabled, so if the issue queue is not monitored he'll not see this offer. apaderno have access to the user profile and shall be able to send email. Assigning to him.

I contacted the project owner. This is the message I sent.

    Hello Rob,

I am contacting you because Jay https://www.drupal.org/u/jayhuskins → ) offered to co-maintain Layout Builder Admin Theme ( https://www.drupal.org/project/layout_builder_admin_theme → ), a project for which you are project owner and sole maintainer.

Ma you post a comment on https://www.drupal.org/project/projectownership/issues/3347678 💬 Offering to co-maintain Layout Builder Admin Theme Closed: outdated about accepting or declining the offer? Without a publicly visible comment posted in that issue in the next 14 days, Jaye will be probably made co-maintainer (user with all the permissions on the project, except the permission to administer co-maintainers/maintainers).
None of the current co-maintainers/maintainers will be removed from site moderators, nor will the project owner be changed. A co-maintainer cannot remove the existing co-maintainers/maintainers nor change the project owner.

I am contacting all the users with the explicit permission to administer co-maintainers/maintainers for that project. In this case, it is just you.

    Best regards,
    Alberto Paderno

The reply should have been given as comment on this issue. I checked my email, and I did not find any reply there too.

As gisle said, site moderators will add as co-maintainers/maintainers only users who can opt projects into security advisory policy. In this case, you are not able to do that.
Site moderators still contact the project owner and the maintainers who can eventually be set for the project even in this case, but that is all they can do.

As gisle said, this issue needs to be moved to the project issue queue. Only the project owner can add you as co-maintainer.

    Hi!

I have opt-role and want to maintain this module. I maintain a lot of active modules with Drupal 10 support

  • 🇳🇴Norway gisle Norway

ivnish, site moderator only process a single offer per issue. Owner sems to be gone, so you we'll proably end up requesting assistance from the site moderafors. To get this process started, please open a new offer here where you offer to maintain.

  • 🇨🇦Canada joseph.olstad

IMHO, someone trusted to Dries needs to be looking for opportunities to improve some of these processes. It's been several months without a response from the maintainer and now it will soon be more than 8 months without a Drupal 10 compatible release.

If I understand the current policies by Drupal, they're trying to force Drupal 7 out with impending deadlines however there's 7+months gone on here and still no action on the rector patch. Meanwhile I'm on a tight deadline for a D9 to D10 upgrade and I'm no longer interested in delays so this time I'm not going to offer additional assistance although I would like to I need to take a stand for something.

joseph.olstad, there is a pending offer to co-maintain, see #3371825: Offering to co-maintain Layout Builder Admin Theme → .

It is currently postponed because we're still waiting for a reply from the project's owner.

  • 🇨🇦Canada joseph.olstad

I bypassed packagist using a composer.json technique to get this into my build so I no longer need a tagged release for D10. The patch is working fine.

  • 🇨🇦Canada joseph.olstad

    @gisle,

ok now that I've gotten my site upgraded to D10 successfully the hard way, I'll offer my time to improve this for others.
💬 Offering to maintain Layout builder admin theme Fixed

It's been a big effort, I've been working on a lot of projects getting them ready for D10 and each project seems to find more modules that need attention.

    Looking forward to this

The normal process is to mark an issue as "Fixed", wait two weeks and it will close it'self. This allows others to report regression issues (or other issues) before it's closed as fixed automatically.

  • 🇮🇹Italy apaderno Brescia, 🇮🇹

Actually, this has not been fixed because jayhuskins has not been added as co-maintainer.
The only person who can add co-maintainers/maintainers is still robert.duplock, who last logged in on the first half of 2022. This issue should be kept visible for him.

  • Automatically closed - issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.
