Gin color variable naming changed in https://www.drupal.org/project/gin/issues/3309113 📌 Change CSS3 variables from camelCase to kebab-case Fixed and atleast previously used colorGinPrimaryActive-variable is not found anymore.
This causes the selected item in Select2 widget not being visible since the colorGinPrimaryActive-variable has been set as the background-color for the selector .select2-container--gin .select2-results__option--highlighted[aria-selected] and defaults to white when the variable is not found. The font color is also white so then the selected item can't be seen.
Use Gin as admin theme and a field with Select2 as widget. Have an item selected in the field.
Update to new color variables.

it does not apply for me.
@SocialNicheGuru this patch is for select2 module.
BTW I have the gin version 8.x-3.0-rc1.
Confirming that the #2 patch solves the problem.
