The error text:

Your vote could not be recorded because you did not select any of the choices.

is unnecessarily verbose. The fact that it is an error implicitly informs the user that the vote has not been recorded. All that is needed is the reason why the error appeared which can also encapsulate the remedy eg.

Make a selection before voting.

Update the tests (there are checks on the old value)
