I have a quick patch here for it to work with the special 'All' scenario, it just replaces that object with its string so the rewrite works. For this rewrite feature to work with other hierarchical lists e.g. in my case it was ones that contains option groups ( like filtering by workflow moderation states for example) would need some more work, I am just using a form_alter hook to manually edit those

Depends on how your view fields are structured, but you probably want to use the view field template, (rather than the view-unformatted) check file in core/modules/view/templates/views-view-field.html.twig
your file will be something like views-view-field--news-releases--article_category_blocks-article-category-1--field-image.html
then you can use the image_style('thumbnail') filter once you've figured out how to get the image uri from your row, If you're having trouble getting the URI you can also just make your view field output the image URI instead of displaying the image, then
{{output|image_style('thumbnail') }} in that field template should work

Works fine on drupal 9, also it seems to work fine with the addition of advagg module
#10 yeah we had a bunch of pathauto configs which still had node_type. If you don’t already manage the entire site config I highly recommend doing this config export to check if there are any uses of node_type still, fix them as #9 suggests and reimport them. Especially if you use something like features module to bundle your configs.
If anyone stumbles upon this, to do this in d9+ you simply need to make your own Tamper plugin, check out contrib module tamper>src>Plugin>Tamper for examples.

Thanks for checking @Matthand, I think the issue is on my build process here. I update the modules with composer, and then put site into maintenance mode with drush state-set system.maintenance_mode 1 this is actually what triggered the ArgumentCountError: Too few arguments to function... error, so it's not actually related to feature revert.
However I tried clearing caches several ways (drush cr, and drush eval "drupal_flush_all_caches();")
prior to putting into maintenance but it still throws that error from features when putting into maintenence mode prior to running drush updb command. I haven't checked to see if running updb before putting into maintenance works, but probably don't want to do it that way anyway.
