@mandclu I'd like to join but after clicking, Google Calendar said it could not find the event?
@mandclu Hey, sorry to trigger but I meant nothing bad! The fact is I've used it and it is serving now. But I did see a lot of things that need work (once I started actually building something) and I totally understand that you are offended. And I can only imagine the amount of time, yet, many are asking this or that.
To be on the constructive side, first of all thanks a lot as it made our camp website operational in less time while also learning about the process. I will submit my opinions as issues once we close the camp and be able to recapitulate what happened and our experiences.
I agree about Recipes and understand just how big it is, to wrap the head and everything about it.
If you accept an apology (though nothing bad was mentioned) I am ready to get active and move the Event Platform module forward (just to clarify, this initiative is based on the module? Or is about the module?)
The stalled comment is based on replies to this thread, the last ten comments are spread over 4 years and that is stalled if you take into account how Drupal is rapidly developing.
I am more inclined to frontend and my friend and colleague Milan @miksha is hard-core backend. I am looking to be the easiest on site-builders being able to do as much as possible by building and tweaking, then with as little styling as needed to get their visual style. I am looking to clean SDC and Tailwind. Not by cluttering templates with tons of classes but using it intelligently to build clean style components.
It seems that initiatives like this stall for some reason: and that is that there has to be some person leading the initiative in every way, including the most important the vision and the support, e.g. few camps really starting with, creating, contributing back while at the same time leaving enough space for the variations.
Often, we stumble upon many architectural choices in many aspects, yet we'd all like to have something that will suit our needs out of the box, with customisation to the content and the addition of specific features.
The LA project seems to be gaining nice momentum and probably this initiative could learn how they manage to make it live and diverse.
I needed a website for our Drupal Camp in Novi Sad (https://ns2024.drupal.rs). We started using Gizra starter (one of the colleagues work there) and Event Platform module but both proved not to be ideal. Gizra Drupal starter has specific concept which is too much backend oriented and Event module is too light not covering many aspects.
We learned a lot from that and were thinking of starting precisely something like this, Events distribution based on Drupal 10/11, recipes, to be easy to customise, to be i18n friendly and be usable out of the box.
We would like to join forces with this initiative (frontend and backend duo).
I like it and I think it is very useful.
But if the user just paste d.o. URL, fatal error is thrown: The website encountered..., and Log brings this:
Error: Call to a member function __isset() on null in Drupal\do_username\DOUserInfoRetriever->isValidUser() (line 79 of /code/web/modules/contrib/do_username/src/DOUserInfoRetriever.php).
Today in Drupal 10, you would use:
<a href="{{ path('user.edit') }}">{{ user.displayname }}</a>

Yes but that does come with a high cost. First, the <iframe> problem and then the thing that you are importing a big CSS that can mess up seriously unless prefixed.
On the other hand, this is just the content styling so it does not need a whole bunch of layout management, menus, or interaction. You can just set some sensible, minimal styling as you can never make it look like or behave like it is on the page.
If you want that you may have misinterpreted Drupal best practices.
