Fix PHPCS/PHPSTAN issues

I had to skip PHPSTAN checks because I was seeing some "false positives", I'll look into that later, for now I'll leave it to "Needs Review" just in case anyone wants to have a look on this (I could use extra help in the PHPSTAN issues).
