When the navigation is above the grey background for a "second" when a tour is opened

Created on 20 November 2024, 4 months ago

Problem/Motivation

When you open a tour and the tour tip is shown in front of a darkened semitransparent background, the navigation sidebar is still shown for half a second and then collapsed with an animation. due to the fact that the sidebar is more prominent against the darkened semitransparent background, the animation is more highlighted and noticeable than usual, and therefore even more more of a distraction (the reason i've added WCAG2.2 SC2.3.3). (see desktop.mp4 and mobile.mp4).

  1. desktop: on close an animation is shown even though after the collapse animation is ended the navigation is still shown expanded underneath the darkened semitransparent background again
  2. mobile sidebar visible: when the tour is started, the sidebar is collapsed, the topbar is shown over the darkened semitransparent background and then it gets collapsed. the topbar is then still shown underneath the darkened semitransparent background. when the tour is ended the sidebar is shown/expanded again, which is the expected behavior
  3. mobil sidebar not visible only the top bar: : start the tour via the hotkey (alt t). the sidebar is expanded, first visible above the darkened semitransparent background then collapsed with an animation and then the sidebar is still shown expanded underneath the darkend semitransparent background. when the tour is ended the sidebar is again collapsed and only the topbar shown.

Steps to reproduce

Proposed resolution

1. the sidebar shouldnt be shown above the background and the collapse animation shouldnt run at all
2. the topbar shouldnt be shown above the background and the collapse animation shouldnt run at all
3. the sidebar shouldnt be expanded and shown above the background in the first place. the top bar should simply remain collapsed when the dark background is shown when the tour is started.
