Create new stable release for 8.x-2.6

Before doing a release, please consider committing 📌 Support Drupal 11 Needs review and 📌 Add GitLab CI template Needs review along with the other issues that fix the CI tests:

• 📌 Fix coding standards Needs review
• 📌 Add basic unit test Needs review

Thanks for proposing those, those are great things to highlight and get included.

Since the current stable is quite old and several fixes are in dev I suggest the best action is to make a stable with the current code. Then those 4 issues can be reviewed and added to the dev branch and a new stable could be created in a few weeks or few months.

Sure, but specifically for the D11 issue, for this module, compatibility is as simple as adding | ^11 to info.yml, so please consider making that fix in the 2.6 release as well if the releases are going to be infrequent.

I committed the issue to add Drupal 8 support and created a 2.6 release. We can follow up quickly with the three other issues mentioned by @ptmkenny.
