Tested on Drupal 10.2 php 8.2, still not getting the error.

I also have this issue.

there's an extra condition on top of "previewing new node": the publication date should included in the view display

Got the same error on Drupal 9.5.11 and PHP 8.1

Added a check on values massage callback function of the widget, to actually fill the value with the form submission time, if left empty.

MR!19 fixes the issue, LGTM

Thanks for the bug report. We decided in 🐛 Field value should be empty for entities that were never published Fixed that the field should be empty for unpublished entities. The widget should not fill the field with an computed value.
