Unclear on how to handle user authentication

I've read the documentation, but I wasn't able to find a reference on how to implement user authentication or login.

I'm assuming GraphQL Compose does not support user authentication. But it would be really nice if at least some information could be found, in order to be explicit and to help users on the right path if there is a way.

Also, IMO, another important piece of information would be how to access the GraphQL queries as a user, so that the permissions and roles implemented are respected in the result. To my knowledge, every query through GraphQL Compose is made as an anonymous user, but it's unclear. Probably there could be a way to log in via rest, but then how can the GraphQL queries differentiate the current user if he's coming from an external app, website, etc?

Sorry if this seems like a misunderstanding or lack of knowledge from my side (which may perfectly be; I'm not a Drupal expert), but it would be far clearer with these details on the documentation, at least as an orientation on what should be done.
