Perimeter release plan

The perimeter module is maturing as a project, in features, and now it has a pipeline with a few merge requests. It is time to discuss a release plan.

This ticket will be continuously updated to reflect the release plan, and all perimeter users and maintainers are invited to comment.

Current release plan:

Version 3.0: Released on November 25, 2023

• ✨ Write functionality tests Needs review
• 📌 Add config link and convert to README.md Fixed

Version 3.1: Estimated in early 2024

• ✨ Add an event on a successful match Needs review
• ✨ Use flood service Needs work
• Either ✨ Add allowed IP configuration to prevent banning certain IP's Needs review or ✨ An IP Whitelist / Allowlist Active
• ✨ 'administer site configuration' permission too broad for settings access Closed: duplicate (requires a change record and documentation update)

Upcoming versions

• ✨ Provide migration path from Drupal 8 path2ban Active
• ✨ Trigger on 403 "Access Denied" events Closed: won't fix

Undecided

• 🐛 Should we Invalidate the page cache after saving settings? Active

Known bugs:

• 🐛 Unrelated syntax errors result in ArgumentCountError: Too few arguments to function Drupal\perimeter\EventSubscriber\PerimeterSubscriber::__construct() Closed: cannot reproduce
