"conflict" necessary be changed to war, because it is war!

I agree with this. There are many appropriate words for what is going on but if the distinction is between "conflict" or "war," the latter is more specific. Also "conflict" implies some sort of equality of disagreement between two intractable positions, e.g. border conflicts such as between India and Pakistan or the West Bank and Israel which might flare up over some longer period and instinctively feel different - if no less sad. This is different in an important way and the clarification of language is a useful acknowledgement of that.
N.B., As someone who has often been critical of the Drupal Association for becoming involved in issues or disputes that are not core to the DA's mission (in my personal estimation) there is always discretion and judgment when it comes to public statements like this. Just like the choice in wording I think the choice of a nonprofit to make public statements on geopolitics and armed conflict should be undertaken carefully and narrowly. That said, given that the DA has already made a decision (one I agree with, BTW) to speak on this, clarifying the language is appropriate and doesn't require any re-arbitration of the decision to speak.

I agree. The word "conflict" is too abstract like if it was some complicated clash of interests. In fact it is simply an invasive war of Russia against Ukraine.

It is not a conflict.
It is war, genocide, and ecocide. - πΊπ¦Ukraine NotToday
No other word than
war
cannot be chosen, unfortunately it's reality! rasha is the aggressor! - πΊπ¦Ukraine voleger Ukraine, Rivne
Name things as they have to be named. It is a war. A lot of war crimes were committed by russia. So genocide and ecocide also take place in the context of this war.

The page should "war" instead of "conflict". Not a native English speaker, but I guess "conflict" is softer and the current situation is much harder that just "a conflict".

We have updated instances of the word 'conflict' to 'war' and clarified that the attack was in fact an invasion.
Thanks all for helping us revisit this to strengthen this statement.
