I added a template suggestion "input__this-is-something" and then appeared on the template suggestions as
input--this-is-something.html.twig
Placing a file with that filename doesn't work because the theme suggestions should be "input__this_is_something" but anyway It took me while to figure it out.
I guess the debug suggestion and the actual file discovery are not using the same logic.

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
There was some activity here 6 years ago but none after that. It has been 10 months and there has been no confirmation that this is still a problem or other reports of this happening. I think it is time to close this.
If you are experiencing this problem on a supported version of Drupal reopen the issue, by setting the status to 'Active', and provide complete steps to reproduce the issue → (starting from "Install Drupal core").
