Design for a non-modal dialog window

Problem/Motivation

Follow-up to #2630374: Token browser is hard to tell apart from the admin page

As explained in #2630374-4: Token browser is hard to tell apart from the admin page , this problem is not noticeable in core because we always use modal dialog boxes. But a modal-less dialog doesn't look very good, as can be seen in the screenshot below (from the original IS).

This is true for modal dialog boxes but it doesn't appear because of the translucent overlay normally. Once the overlay is removed, it looks like this:

Proposed resolution

We should either:

  • Show the border and shadow on all dialogs. Even with overlay, it shouldn't look too bad but we can always check screenshots to see how it looks.
  • Add a class for modal-less dialogs and add border and shadow for that.

Remaining tasks

Discuss the approach and implement.

User interface changes

Dialogs would now have a border and a shadow to distinguish them from the page.
