Remove legacy setting allowing to use <Any> as default select value in Views exposed filters

Follow-up to #2046537: End with "any" label configuration to improve consistency and localization β†’

Problem/Motivation

Due to translation issues, the "<Any>" string has been removed from most part of View in Core now. But, the setting to choose this default value for exposed filters select boxes still exists and pollutes the translatable strings for nothing really valuable.

Proposed resolution

Remove this setting and always use "- Any -" as default value for exposed filters select boxes.

Remaining tasks

<!-- See https://drupal.org/core-mentoring/novice-tasks for tips on identifying novice tasks. Delete or add "Novice" from the Novice? column in the table below as appropriate. Uncomment tasks as the issue advances. Update the Complete? column to indicate when they are done, and maybe reference the comment number where they were done. -->

User interface changes

  • The Label for "Any" value on non-required single-select exposed filters setting is removed from Views basid settings form.
  • Views' non-required single-select exposed filters always defaults to "- Any -"

API changes

None.

Data model changes

The views.settings ui.exposed_filter_any_label value will not exist anymore.

Thank you for creating this issue to improve Drupal.

We are working to decide if this task is still relevant to a currently supported version of Drupal. There hasn't been any discussion here for over 8 years which suggests that this has either been implemented or is no longer relevant. Your thoughts on this will allow a decision to be made.

Since we need more information to move forward with this issue, the status is now Postponed (maintainer needs more info). If we don't receive additional information to help with the issue, it may be closed after three months.

    Thanks!
