We’re excited to share our upcoming plans for creating Gutenberg recipes in Drupal. The idea is to build a set of variations that inherit from a primary recipe, giving developers flexibility while maintaining a solid starting point. Here’s what we have in mind:
- Primary Recipe: This will be the foundation that all variations will inherit from. It will include essential configurations and serve as the base for each variant.
- Recommended Variant: This variant will have Gutenberg installed with most blocks turned off, just as you would typically do when starting a new project. It’s streamlined for building focused and intentional content.
- Demo Variant: Designed for exploring Gutenberg’s full potential, this variant will have most Gutenberg blocks activated. It’s perfect for playing around and showcasing what Gutenberg can do out of the box!
- Demo Content Variant: Inheriting from the demo variant, this version will include some example pages built with Gutenberg. It’s a great way to show off sample content structures and inspire layout possibilities.
We’re working on these variations to help streamline project setups and provide flexibility for different use cases. As always, we welcome your feedback and ideas.

Actually, the first recipe is already done and ready. @eiriksm shared that with a few of us in the team earlier this week.
Eirik, is there a way to share this with the community, if there are anyone out there that want to try it out already? Please also share how.
