First off thanks for such a great module! I've used it several times across D7 to D10.
On one of our recent projects we noticed a problem being able to update to 10.3 this is primarily around rules but wonder if it would be good idea to try and decouple somewhat.
So my plan would be a 7.0.x branch where we can heavily experiment with decoupling some of these dependencies. Allowing sites to download on their own, I did something very similar recently for Better Exposed Filters decoupling jquery modules.
Also I probably would start to close out some of the older D7 tickets as D7 is EOL this year. Would test out the few in review and maybe plan a 1 last D7 release.
Currently I'm maintainer or co-maintainer of over 20+ modules as well as a sub-maintainer for components on core. Understanding the importance of this module I'm also very quick with responses.
