d3/d3 library conflict between C3 and billboard?

Created on 29 June 2024, 10 months ago

Problem/Motivation

according to the readmes:

billboard uses 7.8.5 of d3/d3

while

c3 uses "version": "v4.9.1",

Does it mean I cannot use them at the same time, because one would overwrite the other d3/d3?

@maxilein - it's not a problem if you're using the CDN (except maybe if you have both chart types on the same page), but you are probably right about it causing problems if you download the libraries locally. HOWEVER, Billboard.js is a fork of C3.js; it provides everything C3.js does plus more. There's no reason to have both installed. I've kept C3.js around because I started with that, but I encourage everyone to move to Billboard.js. For that reason, I'm inclined to leave this alone. I'm going to keep this ticket open for your thoughts, but if I don't hear from you in a couple weeks, I'll probably change the status to "Closed (works as designed)".

    Thank you.
It sounds logical. I just did not understand the entire situation.
I will try to make billboard work with CDN and if it does I will try a local install of it.
I think your information is important for everyone who to tries to get charts to work and wants to try out the different libraries.

So maybe all my problems with charts not appearing may come from installing all submodules at the same time?
