Can we get a new maintainer of this amazing theme

Can somebody with good coding skills and Drupal knowledge take over this theme? For me, it was the best theme for Drupal. After the passing of the original maintainer, Matt Bloomfield took over, but I think he lacks the necessary skills. Additionally, he doesn't have the time to work on this theme at all, which he constantly mentions.

Can we put together a budget to attract a better developer? If everyone here could chip in $10 per month—or maybe even $10 per year—it would be more than enough.

Because with Matt Bloomfield, you ask a question in support, and it takes 2 or 3 weeks to get an answer. Even then, he doesn't take the time to help properly.

We really need a new maintainer. I am prepared to contribute some money each month if others chip in.

Matt Bloomfield has made a mess of this theme. He created version 2, then stopped maintaining it and switched back to version 1. It’s all a big mess. In the Drupal community, we really don’t need a person like this.

Who is ready to get a steady, helpful maintainer who has more time than 1 minute every 2 weeks, like Matt does?

Why am I doing this? I have an error in Drupal core 10, but only with this theme. The developer never provided any information on the best way to upgrade the adaptive theme from D9 to D10. He never did that. Some people upgraded from scratch, while others still had to use non-composer methods because the process failed otherwise. I have been stuck with 5 of my sites for over half a year and can't upgrade due to poor maintenance and the bugs this theme now has in version 10.

Even the upgraded compatibility module gave me several errors, indicating that the adaptive theme is not up to code.

Please, guys, let's do something. The guy apparently has no time—not even a few minutes every 2 weeks.

But strangely, I think he reads every post here immediately. I waited for a reply for over 2 weeks on the support page, and as soon as I mentioned I wanted to put down $500 as payment, Matt miraculously replied within an hour. However, his answer was useless.

Let's do something together, people. This theme is the best; let's keep it that way.

  • Unless you're offering to step up as a co-maintainer, or have organized for someone to step up (free or sponsored), I don't see how this kind of tone and language is constructive.

Opensource software is made by those who show up and do the work. Maintainers owe the users of their software nothing.

I get that being stuck without the resources to get unstuck is frustrating, but your choices are clear: (learn to) fix it yourself, pay someone else to fix it, or stop using the software.

Either way, insulting the person who's been working on this for free is not what we do around here, and violates the code of conduct. Please be better.

  • i am not trying to insult....but the guy always complains he has no time...he is always busy....that is why I pledge we need somebody else because the theme is wonderful if it works....

  • Whilst I agree the theme could benefit from some additional cleanup love, I managed the not 100% smooth upgrade path. I see no need to replace Matt Bloomfield. If someone steps up to help, that would be fine as long as we take in mind the story of Jia Tan.

Have to say, some of the wording in this post really makes me sad. A lot of the time members of this community contribute in their spare time, and do their absolute best, I for one am grateful for every minute someone is willing to dedicate.

I can sense your frustration, but ultimately questioning someones dedication, time, coding skills or other is really unnecessary and is unlikely to get anyone queuing up to take this task on.

  • look it is the best theme if it is without bugs of course...so i wonder why it does not deserve best maintainers? The guy obviously has no time.... it is time to pass the torch to somebody else....i would do it...and even if I have 5 kids...3 jobs I would still have time more than 5 minutes in 2 weeks to check the issue queue..... the theme first page should have written looking for serious maintainer... currently theme is only partially maintained....or occasionally maintained

  • also look at this confusion...

    Versions
Match version for version, e.g if your sub-theme was generated on 8.x-2.x stick with the 8.x-2.x branch. Both the 2.x and 3.x branches will be maintained, and over time the 3.x branch is likely to diverge from the 2.x branch as Drupal 8 evolves.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I WONDER WHY THIS IS NOT REMOVED BEUCASE IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE
ALSO WE DONT KNOW WHY THERE ARE SEVERAL VERSIONS OF THEME AND AT TOOL:::WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? THERE IS 6,7 ETC
