Offering to maintain Entity Reference Layout (to keep it alive for existing sites)

Problem/Motivation

Entity Reference Layout was replaced by Layout Paragraphs, which is great, bud sadly there is no upgrade path, see 💬 Is there an upgrade path from ERL to Layout Paragraphs for users with existing ERL sites? Active

We have several clients still using ERL for that reason with ten thousand paragraphs. Manual conversion will be days or even weeks of work. For that reason, some of the clients would like to stay on ERL, until one day there will be a major relaunch.
For smaller projects, we'll migrate to LP with automated and manual steps.

So to keep this module usable, even with Drupal 10, I'd like to request maintainership of this module. We'll care for the open issues and especially 📌 Drupal 10 compatibility and theme function fixes Fixed . This module will be kept unsupported and we'll even make the warning on the module page, to use LP instead, more visible (banner class).

Still, it would help us a lot, if we could invest some time into this module, to keep it runnable.

I'll try to contact @justin2pin via PM for that.

    PS: Should we then create a 2.x branch to separate the untouched initial version from the new fixes?
    I think we could just work in 8.x-1.x but @justin2pin and @itamair should decide.

    Yes, a Drupal 10 release would be awesome. Huge projects with many, many Paragraphs are affected here!

    Thank you, @anybody - I filed #3278738 and was considering having a go at creating a patch to convert to the correct template approach, but simply haven't managed to find the time yet (and I expect many other folks yourself included could probably write a better patch and better-written test coverage, in fairness...).

    Unless a fail-safe automated way to migrate to Layout Paragraphs is possible, and the EX stays more-or-less the same, we won't be migrating at all.

    The project's maintenance status is already set "Unsupported", which means that it is open to be take over by a new owner.

    I've transferred ownership to Anybody.
