I can confirm the patch in #2 works for me as well

+1 RTBC. This corrected issues on our site with adding net new content that used the HMS field type and editing content without a value.

This should be in a latest numbered release.

I concur, this is RTBC. Any chance for a merge and stable release with this fix?
