Offering to co-maintain Layout Paragraphs

Updated 26 October 2023, about 1 year ago

As a very impressed user of Layout Paragraphs since day one, having moderated numerous issues, suggested features, reviwed issues and contributed MR's, I would hereby like to apply to be a co-maintainer of Layout Paragraphs.

In particular, I would like to help the two very busy maintainers @justin2pin and @itamair.

We're using Layout Paragraps at DROWL.de in numerous projects, which typically quickly brings important issues to our attention.

In particular, I would like to offer to take care of community issues, for example the regular review of new issues and the moderation of old (e.g. 1.x) issues. I will not touch the architecture of the module and will of course follow applicable community rules for review, release, etc.

If there is interest, I would be very happy to work on this important project and drive it forward.

Let me know, how I can help.

Issues like 🐛 Drupal 9.5+ duplicate broken Fixed , 🐛 Missing query access check in LpHostEntityListBuilder Fixed and other are good examples, where clear issues should be fixed faster. This is mainly because the current maintainers don't have the time (which I totally understand and is the same for me now and then)

BTW of course I also totally understand, if you decline ;)
Then it would perhaps make sense to establish a regular issue review in your team or have further maintainers from your company so it doesn't depend on two persons only? :)

Thanks @Anybody - I appreciate the offer, and all the work you've put into the Layout Paragraphs issue queue. I'll follow up here in the next few days. Cheers.

    Hi!

Did anything happened here in the background?

  • 🇩🇪Germany Anybody Porta Westfalica

@justin2pin sorry, I'm sure you have lots of work to do, but how can we ensure, important projects like this still keep on moving?

(Not saying I must become co-maintainer ;) I just think we need a plan, as typically people like us won't have more time in the future ;D)

Was there any resolution on this @Anybody? @justin2pin

I think, this is a very important project, and eventually we will have issues if it is left without maintenance.

As the last reply is 7 months ago, I am not sure if we shouldnt try the procedure outlined at the following link:
How to become project owner, maintainer, or co-maintainer

    @Anybody, what do you think?

(based on the issue queue I set higher priority)

  • 🇩🇪Germany Anybody Porta Westfalica

@nagy.balint I agree, but I don't want to upset @justin2pin. So I'd be more happy about his feedback here or any other way to get things done here. @justin2pin does and did a super great job and all we can offer is some help and time, so he can focus on the more complex things.

But yes, if there will be no reply here, we can eventually move this over (now after 3M)

Okay let's see how to proceed.

Hi All - @Anybody and I had an email exchange back in July, and this was my reply:

Thanks for your email. We no longer use ERL and have migrated all sites using ERL to Layout Paragraphs (or are in that process). I don't see an issue with adding you as a maintainer to ERL... Let me chat with a couple folks on my end and get back to you.

With respect to Layout Paragraphs and Style Options... I really appreciate all the help. We use those modules extensively and have a vested interest in ongoing development for both. For now I think just collaborating in the issue queues is probably best.

We still use Layout Paragraphs extensively and are committed to its success and stability. I am happy to review patches, ideally that include test coverage, and am still reviewing issues regularly in the queue.

Thanks for the feedback and clarification @justin2pin!

Thought the situation might have changed, looking at the several issues. Happy to hear you're sill active in this wonderful project. My offer for help still stands and of course yes, I'm helping in the issue queue.
