Roleassign has had a bug in its help text since D5. The string explaining what roleassign is good for contains a break tag like it is usually used to separate teasers from articles.

That did always end with an error message whenever role assign was installed on a, site using other languages then English. In Roleassign 2.0.0, the maintainers have fixed that actually 3 years after we stumbled upon that bug.

Since Roleassign is compatible with 9.1 and 10 now, it'll be a good quality lifetime patch to update role assign to 2.0.0 in Varvas 9.x and newer.

Install varbase
Enable a second language e. g. German
Import translation via, drush
See locale modules error message

Proposed resolution

Update the RoleAssign module version to 2.0.0

Change drupal/roleassign to ~2.0 in the composer.josn file.
