I agree that removing maintainers that don't plan on doing maintenance anymore is a good idea.
For the importance of 📌 Drupal 10 compatibility Fixed I wanted to ping a maintainer of this super widely used and super helpful module, but couldn't find someone active with a contact form (@paulocs seems active, but I didn't make to contact him).
For security reasons, I think it would make sense to sort out totally inactive maintainers and ensure the module has active maintainers.
This module is too important for the Drupal Community to be not maintained anymore. I'd help, but already maintain a lot (aka too many) modules.
