Resolve "@todo Remove this entire function"

There is currently a todo in "simple_megamenu_bonus.module", line 84 stating:

As @voleger pointed out correctly in 📌 Fix remaining D10 compatibility issues Fixed , the linked issue is set as "Closed (won't fix)".

I see 2 options on how to proceed here:

Just remove the to-do, no questions asked.
Reopen the linked issue and come up with a solution that would persuade the maintainer.
