Could Search 404 work with Search API

Hello,

If I refer to this documentation's page https://www.drupal.org/node/1235128 → I read that Search API is not listed in available combination with Search 404. I have try in my own to see that it seems not works.

So I have no idea to filtrate certain content types and not display them in search result.

Did I miss an option, or a way of doing things? Thank you.
