The images in comment 6 do not look like links to me. I would want them to look more like a traditional link.
The logo in comment 5 reminds me of the eyes on the older drupalicon, is that the intention? If so, I'd like so that a little cleaner.

I've made a few more variations. Could you please review them for me?

This is more like a link, but it doesn't read "Advanced link", more like just "link". I'd like an indicator that this more than alink.

I believe the icon used by this project is a link with a plus sign. That might be the way to go.

There are a lot of options, but I've created previews of the last two.

I like this one a lot. It's nice and simple and clear.

Editor_Advanced_Link_6.png:

This one is also good, but I feel on the white background it doesn't pop quite as much.

I have checked both images are in PNG format, have a resolution of 512x512, and file sizes are under 10K.

My +1 goes to Editor_Advanced_Link_5.png.png.

I do like Editor_Advanced_Link_6.png with green boxes and blue plus sign the best -- it looks fresh, and a lot of the other icons have large areas with solid color, so a bit of variation would be nice.

Good designs and conversation here. I also prefer Editor_Advanced_Link_5.png.png., which stands out more than the version without the background.
