I wonder if we could get something like the "Media library" for entity reference fields, so it would be possible to select content while seeing them in teaser mode, or select users while looking at their name with images. Something like the Entity Browser module.

    I think entity browser is perfect for this! So I am not sure what the case would be for putting that in Drupal core? Marking postponed for now but I think this can probably be closed.
