If it was possible to group content it would give this module a little more flexibility, e.g. we can group content by dates like month/year on the timeline, and from that create some nice effects, like change year in title while a user scroll the timeline.

I know that using the grouping now will break the timeline, but we could maybe hide the group title by default?

This is a nice and easy fix. Will this be committed to the module?

Thanks @matsbla, this would be a great little feature to add. One method could be to add the same date field twice, and then for the Date field used to group with:

    • Check "Hide it from Display"
    • Set "Formatter" to "Custom" and "Date/time format" to "Y"
    • Use it as Group under "Format: Simple Timeline"
    • Float it to the right

Though, it does break the alternating left/right pattern, if there is only one item per year. But maybe that's all right?

I have created an MR in GitLab, since that's now the method, so the new MR probably needs a fresh review as well.
