removing original language make content, custom blocs and views created in this language unusable

Created on 18 October 2017, about 7 years ago
Updated 2 August 2024, 5 months ago

Problem/Motivation

When deleting a language the confirm message sets the expectation that content in this language will be changed to language neutral.
However this is not the case the entity language value is not updated and language specific links including the in the admin UI are not updated until a cache refresh.

Remaining tasks

Confirm that setting the content to language neutral is the expected behaviour and implement functionality to update entities on that language when it has been deleted.

Reading the issue summary this does not seem like a novice issue.

I did some testing of this with the Umami demo. I deleted the Spanish language and found that the content was removed and links lead to 404s. I didn't find any problems and a cache clear I didn't notice any changes.

    Therefore, closing as outdated

If you are experiencing this problem on a supported version of Drupal reopen the issue, by setting the status to 'Active', and provide complete steps to reproduce the issue (starting from "Install Drupal core").

    Thanks!
