Oh wow, I didn't realize that Drupal 8 was so close to release already.
As the head maintainer for Date iCal, i'm afraid that I won't be able to offer my time for porting Date iCal to Drupal 8. My code shop is not planning to upgrade our D7 sites to D8, so I won't be continuing to develop Date iCal outside of fixing bugs for the D7 version.
I'd be happy to take on a co-maintainer to create the Drupal 8 port, who I would then promote to head maintainer. [ coredumperror → ]

It's likely this issue predates Contrib.social: some issue and comment data are missing.
I'm not sure what the status is for a Drupal 9/10 release, but a fine substitute is views_ical → in case anyone is looking.
@lazzyn is going to push up a D10 version of date_ical.
