508 Compliance Issue - Certain Links does not contain unique IDs for JAWS

"Certain links do not contain unique link names for JAWS to announce. Within the user homepage of the Drupal (Internal) application, there are multiple “Configuration block edit” links which are announced by JAWS as “Open Configuration Options toggle button” without providing a unique link name to distinguish each link. As an example when the “Configuration block edit” link next to the logo link graphic is accessed, JAWS announces “Open Configuration Options toggle button” instead of announcing as e.g., “Configuration block edit Site branding button”. In addition to the links not having unique names, in Google Chrome version 55.0.2883.87 m., all of the “Configuration block edit” links on the page are announced as “checked” implying that the links are checkboxes.

The defect exists in IE 11 and Google Chrome Version 55.0.2883.87 m.

Expected result: All links are expected to contain unique link names in order to distinguish between each link. In this instance JAWS is expected to announce e.g., “Configuration block edit Site branding button” and each “Configuration block edit” link is expected to be announced with its unique respective name.

Reference: Section 508, Part 1194.21, user interface elements (d).

Notes:
• This defect also exists elsewhere within the application.
