With the latest updates to fields to display entity reference types, target bundles, think this could be a good feature.
After visiting admin/structure/types/manage//fields, user can see all the list of fields in the content type. There is no way to identify if the field is required just seeing the listing page. When the field list grows it becomes to hard to distinguish between required fields.
Proposed Solution
I think simply adding * mark with field label will make it easy for site admin to identify required fields.
