Prefix and suffix on numeric fields do not allow to add spacing

Note: this is a follow up of issue #483474: Help text for number suffix doesn't make spacing clear → for the 6.x CCK module, though IMO this is not a documentation issue, but an incorrect implementation.

The prefix and suffix on numeric fields:
- do not add spaces
- do not allow to add spacing (e.g. by enclosing it in a span)
- do not document this in the help text, they even suggest it otherwise: Separate singular and plural values with a pipe ('pound|pounds'). With this help text the result will be the unexpected 1pound resp. 5pounds.

Workaround:
Add spaces yourself, but doing so will turn this issue into a translator's gotcha.

Because of the translation issues, I think that this should be solved in code by adding a span around the prefix and suffix.
