Looked into the test issue. It is caused by the added accessCheck. I added gitlab CI to the project, replaced the failing tests with a todo, and set the accessCheck to TRUE (more secure, and similar to redirect module). Will be creating a second release today that contains some more fixes.
Tested the dev branch with simplytest.me. It works functionally as far as I can tell.
I am, however, seeing an error in the unit test and some deprecated warnings. Seeing as it is already in the dev branch and the module does seem to work I'll create a new alpha version.
Yes, I can merge it once everything is ready. Might take me some time to get to it though as I am no longer working with Drupal and need to look into the current merge request setup.
