Looking at the original issue summary, I think the majority of points are no longer relevant with modern Drupal's IA and themes. The IA deliberately separates content from configuration.
Saving credits for the many contributors over the years, including contributions by sprinters.
@lucaswoj, I'm sorry your first open source patch was never incorporated into Drupal core, but it did help us decide what to do overall, and that's helpful too. :) I hope you found your home in another open source project!
