Is Image URL Formatter still being maintained

Created on 29 June 2025, 22 days ago

The project has 35K users using it and hasn't been updated since 2023. There are also Drupal 11 patches in the issue queue that people have worked on that would make this module D11 compatible, but haven't been committed yet.

I created this issue to eventually move it to the Drupal.org project ownership forum which will help it find a good maintainer. This is following the guidelines in Reporting projects without becoming a maintainer

I'll be contacting the author as well and making them aware of this issue.

I hope this helps bring more traction to the module

    Hi!

    I can join as co-maintainer.
While I have no contributions on this project personally, but you can check my profile as reference for other projects.

We used the project on one of our sites, and I could help pushing out a D11 compatible release.

I reached out to the maintainer more than 2 weeks ago via e-mail without a response. I would also recommend adding @nagy.balint as co-maintainer.

An issue asking whether a project is still maintained cannot be changed to an offer to become co-maintainer once it is moved to the Drupal.org project ownership queue.

If nagy.balint wants to be co-maintainer, he needs to create a new issue in the project queue. I am not going to mark the project abandoned, if nagy.balint's intention is offering to be co-maintainer.

The issue summary does not contain the project link. Which one is it?

    Hi!

    It is https://www.drupal.org/project/image_url_formatter

I guess whichever solution gives us the shortest wait time. I guess if the project is marked abandoned then we don't need to wait another month?

The time for adding a co-maintainer is the same for unsupported project and supported projects.
Projects are marked unsupported to let people know they should consider another project, not to make the time to add a new maintainer shorter.

    Ok, thanks!

@nwom, Hi! Then likely we need to close this issue, as we surely do not want to officially mark the module unsupported for weeks.

It seemed that there was a way if the module became abandoned to then quickly promote a new maintainer, but then it seems it is not possible.

So I will need to create a new issue and start over the 2 week period unfortunately.
