Problem/Motivation

Hi all,

I was looking for a solution like this - allowing to import certain *new* configs (e.g. newly added fields) from the config folder in an update hook and it doesn't seem to be possible in core in any clean way.

I guess you wrote this module having similar trouble.

I'm 100% convinced functionality like this needs to land in core to allow contrib modules to solve such a job easily. This should not need a contrib module.

Do you know about any core issue or discussion to provide developer-friendly functionality like this in core? Such an issue should then be linked on top of the module page.
