Thanks @mortona2k. I will take a look at the field compare module.
I had reached out to the X-ray audit maintainers a couple years back but they were not interested in combining projects.
The Field Compare → module has a useful UI, but is marked as Unsupported and No further development.
It can show an in depth comparison of field config for different entity types, and can highlight differences to catch settings you meant to keep consistent.
If the maintainer is interested, we could port it here for maintenance, or just use it for design consideration for other reports.
There is also an entity display report from Xray Audit. It's a more compact display, but doesn't have everything.
