Add flag "Hide blogger", to improve Planet Drupal content quality

Created on 12 April 2025, 14 days ago

Problem/Motivation

In an effort to improve the quality of posts on Drupal Planet, I would like to propose the following:

We could add a feature, where registered users can flag a blogger ("Hide blogger" ?), and as an individual user, no longer see posts from this blogger on the Planet Drupal page.

If a blogger hits a certain threshold of "Hide blogger" flaggings by us users, the blogger could receive a "your content is low quality" message, and maybe also get relegated to a less prominent display, like only showing the header, and in a smaller font?

Steps to reproduce

Scan the Planet Drupal articles, and see not so great content.

Proposed resolution

Allow registered users to give feedback via a "Hide blogger" flag. From now on, this individual user no longer see posts from this blogger on the Planet Drupal page.

If a blogger exceeds a threshold of for example 10 "Hide blogger" flaggings, they could:

  • Receive a "Your content is low quality" message
  • Get relegated to a less prominent display, like only showing the header, and in a smaller font
