Content Accessibility Style Guide - Accessibility

Created on 3 April 2025, 6 days ago

Problem/Motivation

Essentially, I stumbled across this page, and don't think I'd seen it before https://www.drupal.org/drupalorg/style-guide/accessibility β†’

I think it could be better linked to other accessibility documentation, but also really should be revised to align with current best practices.

I think the audience here is content authors, so not the folks writing the html for the web forms, or with access to creating the color palette.

Proposed resolution

Well, I could get edit permission and re-write parts of this short page. Or I could make some recommendations for someone else.

I'd like to focus on what authors can do within Drupal.org. There's only so much flexibility, so there are things that are useful to remind folks. I'd also suggest we move to https://accessibilityinsights.io/ or even a tool like https://sa11y.netlify.app/ - both of which are open source.

Could you provide draft changes in a Google doc or similar? I could give you direct edit access as well, I suppose, and we have revision history - I'd just like to be able to easily track what changes we're making. (Though, as you say, this page is pretty out of date).
